Photo shoot wedding with Jamie Collins Photography

This year we've come up with the most amazing concept!  Photo shoot weddings.  So instead of planning this expensive shoot for just one magazine, setting up, taking images and then pulling it apart and taking it down.... we work with two couples per year and design their wedding as a MAJOR photo shoot! We take so many fabulous detailed shots and send them for editorial feature to major wedding blogs and lovely bridal magazines.  It's a great way to get editorial and of course, to network with some of the best wedding professionals in the industry, just another perk!

For 2011 we're working with Leslie and Omar (our couple) and designing the most lovely of weddings for this photo shoot wedding in Washingtonville, NY.  Along with the most amazing photographer! Jamie Collins Photography.  Just absolutely LOVE, LOVE her!  She has this wonderful graceful personality and just a love for what she does.  Not to mention an absolute gift at taking the most amazing images!  The location for this wedding is gorgeous!  Lynda from Details Wedding and Party Planning will be helping the couple with some planning.  Sarah Drake will be working on her wedding invites.  She is so very gifted!  Kelly's Sweet Rewards will be designing the couples custom cake and I'm sure it will be yummy!

You'll see our last photo shoot wedding (which was at the Society Room in Hartford, Connecticut) on Style Me Pretty blog soon.  Jamie Collins Photography took all of Katie and Alan's images and it was amazing!! More details to follow.... I don't want to give much away.  You'll just have to wait and see in on Style Me Pretty!  Which by the way is one of the most trendy wedding blogs you could ever find.  Love Abby's blog, she has such a lovely style and the over all ideas you can gather from her blog are tremendous!  You can even create your own inspiration boards.  This photo shoot wedding was packed full of details and coordinated by Sixpence For Your Shoe.  We had such a great team of wedding professionals.  See more details on Style Me Pretty blog very soon!

Our second photo shoot wedding for 2011 is for Brittany and her amazing hubby to be... with Alicia from No Eye Has Seen Photography.   I'm still working on some more details for Brittany's wedding.. more to follow!

Daily tasks of a wedding company

It's been such a busy season already!  Generally, we get a few months off during the winter to rest and prepare for the upcoming wedding season.  But, do you know how many winter weddings we've had this year (which is wonderful!) and how many new requests we have for next winter!  I'm so excited that we get the chance to design winter weddings, with touches of sparkle, snow and glittery branches.  Thank goodness we had the chance this past January to travel to Atlanta, Georgia and select some of the most unique crystals, hanging luminaries, exquisite ribbons and sparkled snowflakes!  (I'm dying to show you pictures of our winter wonderland wedding we photographed for Style Me Pretty blog... but you'll just have to wait to see it on Abby's blog)

Daily tasks for our days include answering phone calls, emailing new potential clients and current clients.  Of course, there's the organizing of paperwork, photocopies of contracts to clients and more paperwork.  Organizing meetings and keeping track of all of our clients wedding information, sample bouquets, etc.

One of the most incredible part of my job is to custom create unique table designs, boutonnieres and bouquets!  Thinking outside the box and creating so many different things, never before seen designs.  Look for our upcoming photo shoot weddings this season.  Really neat venues and unique color combination's.  So romantic, sophisticated and just pretty!

How we came to be Jessica's Country Flowers

What started as only designing for two to three weddings a year has grown to designing over 50 weddings.  Jessica started by growning flowers in the gardens at her parents farm.  We designed one wedding and it just ran from there!  Now in our eighth year full-time, Jessica caters to a wide array of clients, traveling for weddings all over New England and New York.

It started by a young girl going to Vo-Ag high school studying floral design and then going to college for it as well.  At the young age of only 19, Jessica started her own company.  She worked for other local florists, which by the way wouldn't let her design much.  She did all the crap work, picking up messes, deliveries, even landscape work.  Jessica didn't like that certain companies she had worked for cut corners and used old flowers.  One floral company actually called to ask us to close our company down and come work for them, which Jessica happily declined.  (funny, they are now out of business)

Originally, Jessica worked full-time as a pharmacist tech while designing weddings part time.  Her natural drive motivated her to go full-time with the wedding floral business.  Jessica did hundreds of mailings, making sure each and every engaged couple knew who she was and what the company stood for.

We pushed hard to get where we are now.  Networking with other wedding professionals, making sure that each and every client was utterly satisfied and buying only quality flowers.  Each year we create custom-tailored weddings and events.  So each client knows their wedding or event is truly unique.  Our goal as floral designers is to set ourselves apart from the competition.  Doing this, well... just different.  Who could of imagined we'd be where we are right now?!  Each year our weddings get bigger and more creative.  As we look back on how it all happened, it's really amazing how far we have come in such a small amount of time.

We network now with other incredible wedding professionals to give back, by designing one or two deserving couple weddings each year.  Just our little way of giving back and being appreciative of the things we have!

Daily tasks of planning a wedding

It's almost as if you could take your entire day and plan the wedding.  Like planning the wedding consumes so much of your time and energy that it's tough to do that and go to work full time (or work full time and go to school)!

We took time out of our crazy busy schedule yesterday to tour Sarah Porter Memorial hall in Farmington, Connecitcut.  Karri (our 2011 deserving bride) is thinking of holding her reception there.  It's this lost gem in the wedding industry.  I have owned a floral business in Connecticut for over 13 years and never realized it exsisted!  The place is filled with history, gorgeous hardwood floors, stunning chandeliers, wood work is perfect and the grand ballroom is to die for!

Emily's Catering Group took us around for the tour and we were just simly amazed!  We'll sit down with Rick, from Emily's Catering Group in the next few weeks to discuss the menu for Karri and Chris's wedding.  This is truly a unique local with touches of old and new.  Different.... which is nice when you are planning a wedding and hoping everyone will walk away saying "Wow!".

Wedding season approaches

As wedding season quickly approaches us, we have so many wonderful new things coming in.  Hanging copper color leaves for the fall, crystals of all sorts and some fabulous unique ribbons just waiting to be wrapped around the stems of a great hand-tied bouquet!  Rustic and natural bark covered containers for that rustic, organic and natural style wedding.

Keep your eyes posted to Style Me Pretty blog the first week in April for a wedding we designed last summer at Jonathan Edwards Winery in Stonington, Connecticut.  Then, our photo shoot wedding, which was held at The Society Room in Hartford, Connecticut and photographed by the wonderful Jamie Collins Photography

We've been busy working on helping our 2011 deserving couple's choose venues and meet with their vendors.  So far, Anna & Justin are looking for a rustic, yet stylish chic barn wedding in New England.  Karri & Chris will be touring Sarah Porter Memorial hall this week in Farmington, Connecticut.  Emily's Catering Group has offered their services to both of these lucky couples and we'll be meeting with them to select a menu too.

I've been busy trying to put finishing touches on my wedding book, Enchanted Weddings before the busy wedding season over takes us!
